OMD FWD w/c 28th May

Hello and welcome to your weekly FWD.

From “We’d love to stay in touch” to plain and simple “We’ve updated our Privacy Policy” it’s hard not to notice our inboxes flooded with emails from companies about GDPR (with some of us thinking it was actually less intrusive receiving their weekly spam mail). However it didn’t take long before the two least likely suspects, Facebook and Google received a complaint over ‘forced consent’. Meanwhile, one brand found the time to poke some fun at the new EU law.

This week also saw Instagram introduce a new mute feature which allows you to control what posts you see from certain accounts without having to unfollow them; something we all need this time of year with all the holiday gloating.

Live in the US and late with the Spring cleaning? Don’t fret! Facebook Marketplace will now let you hire your next cleaner. We are hoping it won’t be long before the handy feature gets rolled out globally.
